Family Activity: Rainbow Relay
Trust God because he has a plan for us
Scripture: Genesis 6-9
Supplies: Bible, markers or crayons (Red, Orange, Yellow, Blue, Green and Purple) One of each color for your players. You will need two family members at a time to race.
Preparation: Tape a piece of white paper across the room on a window or wall. Set a set of makers or crayons on the other side of the room, one set for each family member (player).
Once the family members have been picked (race only two at a time). Someone will say “Ready, Set, Go” and the family members will race to the white paper with a marker in hand and draw an ark to start forming a rainbow. Using one color at a time, they will race back to get another marker to race to the white paper to continue to draw an ark to form a rainbow. The person that finishes first will say “Ooh! A Rainbow” wins. They must use all six colors that make a rainbow. Play again and again until everyone in the family as had a turn to race and draw a rainbow.
Then read aloud Genesis 6-9 and discuss the following questions:
- What did you like about playing this game?
- What does the Bible tell us that a rainbow means?
- What did God promise Noah? Noah trusted God and his plan, how can we trust God?
Say: The rainbow is a sign of God’s promise to never flood the whole earth again, we trust in that promise (plan).
Pray: Dear God, Thank you for your promises (plan) to love us and care for us forever. Amen
